More about Dr. Katia De Marco

Katia was born in Montreal, Quebec, and studied Environmental Sciences at McGill University School of Environment (MSE), with a focus on Ecological Determinants of Health, studying how the environment can impact health, and how our surroundings play such a critical role in our health outcomes.

From a young age, Katia has felt not only a strong connection to nature, but also a deep sense of curiosity about the world and how things work. Her first word, as the story goes, was “Why?”, and she has not stopped asking this since. While her early academic career focused heavily in the sciences, she also spends a lot of time thinking about what it means to be healthy, and how this can look different from person to person, and from one stage of life to another.  

After university, Katia took two years off, travelling and working, including tree planting in northern British Columbia. This is where she first encountered naturopathic medicine, as this profession is not recognised or regulated in her home province. It was her light bulb moment, and she knew that this was the path she was meant to take. She enrolled in the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, where she continued to head out west to plant trees during the summer, and completed her studies in 2017.
